Huge praise to everyone who read for Buster Book club this week 🙂

Welcome to Term 6 :)

Welcome back everyone.

Here’s a look at the learning Yr 5 will be doing during the first part of this term.

English: In English we are looking at how to write persuaive letters, linking this closely to themes associated with our book this term, Street Child.

Maths: We will be continuing our work on decimal numbers and percentages  We will looking at how to accurately add and subtract decimal numbers as well as finding percentages of amounts.

Topic: This term’s IPC topic is called ‘Inventions That Changed The World’ – watch out for details of an exciting trip linked to this.

PE: We have some excellent sport practitioners joining us for some of our PE lessons where there will be a focus on football, cricket and rounders.  Please ensure your child has their full school PE kit in school.

RE: This term we are exploring the Islamic Faith.

Our value this term is truthfulness.

Reading Plus

Hello All,

Please can you check that your child has completed all of their Reading Plus lessons this week. They have until Sunday to complete their lessons if they have any outstanding.

Reading Plus is carried out every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and also set for homework throughout the week.

Though many are participating regularly at home, there is still a need for many to do this. I cannot emphasise the importance in which this will have on children’s overall reading, especially towards areas such as comprehension.

There is a new incentive, which started this week. If your child has completed all of their Reading Plus lessons by Friday they are rewarded in the afternoon with 15 minutes of Golden Time.

Thanks for your continued support.

Year 5 Team.

Welcome Back to Term 5

Hi All,

Welcome back to Term 5 we hope you had a lovely break.

Just a reminder that the school are no longer providing water bottles to reduce the school’s plastic waste consumption.

Please can you ensure that you provide your child with a reusable water bottle clearly named – especially as the weather is getting warmer.

PE will continue to be on a Thursday, please ensure your child’s full PE kit is in school and labelled.

We still have a handful of parents, who have not registered for Class Dojo, we will be sending reminder letters out again this week. Please ensure that you have signed up as we use it as a means of communication.

Watch this space for updates on Term 5.

Thanks for your continued support.

The majority of children are not logging in at home and reading their allocated amount of tasks each week. Reading Plus is a really useful tool for children to improve and progress their reading comprehension skills. Please can you ensure that your child is logging in properly from home and completing their allocated weekly tasks. This is set as Homework every week and the expectation is that children should be logging in for three 30 minute slots at home during the week.

Please let your class teacher know if you do not have access to Reading Plus at home.

Thanks for your continued support.
