DT – Doodler

The children enjoyed exploring how Doodlers work.  They explored a variety of factors that impact on how the Doodler functions.  This included adapting the counterweight, using pens and / or pencils and changing the height or position of the pens.

We then designed and planned our own.  Here are the finished products:

Friendship Workshop

The children took part in a friendship workshop on Tuesday. Not only was I impressed by the children’s behaviour, but it also reminded me how incredibly kind and supportive towards one another they are. The children explored how it’s okay to be different, how to work in a team, and how to be a good friend. They also learned some strategies to help them to relax or calm down.

Wellbeing Day

Maple class had great fun teaching each other their skills.  The children taught each other gymnastics, dance, football and programming skills.  The children also learned how to make an origami frog, demonstrating great perseverance.  Some children also learned to play a song on a keyboard and play darts.

Art Week

We have been learning about the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama – Princess of Polka Dots.

First, we learned about her life and then we explored some of her art.  One day Yayoi had a vision in the field. The flowers seemed to have become thousands of dots that continued on forever and Yayoi felt as if she was being ‘obliterated’. This moment has inspired lots of her artwork.

We then applied this style to some of our own ideas.

Welcome to Term 3!

Happy New Year and welcome to Term 3.  We have another very busy term ahead of us.  Here is an overview of what we will be learning about this term:

Here is a copy of the KIRFs for this term:

We will send home regular activities linked to these.

Christmas 2024

We have had an incredibly busy end to term 2.

We wrote letters to and made Christmas cards for the local charity ‘CARM’.

We enjoyed making our Christingles for our church service.

We enjoyed making Christmas decorations and writing prayers or wishes.

Maths Week

We looked at different kinds of maths problems.  This included finding all possibilities and looking for patterns or rules.

In PE, we had to ‘buy’ equipment with a budget of £5.00.  We then created a maths themed activity, for example two teams answering times tables questions, with the fastest person to be correct shooting into a basketball hoop.  The children then reviewed each other’s activities and linked this to the cost of the activity.
