What a lot of fun we have had with the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Some of us have enjoyed packing the basket full of goodies and putting on the red cloak to head off to Grandma’s house!  We have loved listening to the story on our Tonie box too. We have enjoyed challenges to make the pathway to Grandma’s house through the trees, watching out for the Big Bad Wolf on the way!

 

 

Off Jack went, climbing up the beanstalk, off Jack went, climbing high. Up, up, up, up, up, into the sky, sky, sky, into the sky! Lots of singing to the Jack and the beanstalk story this week. We made a giant castle for the sky! We did lots of beanstalk maths, counting magic beans, making number bond beanstalks and ordering beans to 20! We even planted some beans and dug them back up again and planted them again!  – I wonder if they will grow!

 

 

 

We have loved exploring the story of the Three little Pigs this week. Lots of role playing especially by the grown-ups! Puppets and story spoons have helped some of us to join in.

We have been super bug hunters this week and enjoyed finding worms in the garden. We have used our magnifying glasses and bug catchers to explore in the den. Some of us have written some super bug facts as we have found them out.

We have been looking at frogs this week in the Hive. We have enjoyed songs about frogs and looking at tadpoles. The story of the Teeny Weeny tadpole has become a firm favourite too!

This week we have been looking at lots of different patterns. We have matched patterned mittens, made repeating patterns on scarves and used the polar animals to make patterns in the ‘playdough snow’! Great!

 

This week we have been looking at comparisons. We weighed penguins, exploring ‘heavier’ and ‘lighter’. We ordered penguins in size order looking at ‘bigger and smaller’ Some of us worked on our number bonds to 10 matching the penguins and their eggs to find the correct number bond and some of us counted buttons on snowmen. We had a big challenge to order the snowmen according to the number, array and numicon pattern! Phew we have been very busy!

In the Hive this week, we have been looking at winter weather and the clothes we need to wear to keep warm. We made snow men with the glittery playdough and lots of super snowflakes.
