NELFT

As a school, we are lucky enough to work directly with NELFT, who support identified children with workshops, whole classes and run workshops for families and parents.

Workshops for children have included:

Brain buddies, emotional explorers, friendship, developing resilience and transition

Workshops for parents have included:

Transition – supporting your child to start school. This is offered to parents of all our children who start in EYFS. It provides invaluable support and tips as well as the opportunity to meet other new parents over tea and biscuits.

Transition – supporting your child as they move to secondary school. This is offered to all parents of Year 6 children, giving useful tips and advice to support your child and how you can best support them. This supplements the transition work that NELFT do with the whole year group and the additional transition support that our learning mentor does for children who are highly anxious.

We also run regular coffee mornings with NELFT which our SENCO and Learning Mentor also attend. These have included:

  • Supporting your child with anxiety
  • Understanding Autism
  • Supporting your child with ADHD
  • Developing resilience in your child
  • Managing challenging behaviour
  • Autism and sleep

Many of these courses are also available online but coming along in person gives parents the chance to ask more questions and build up a support network with other parents facing similar issues – they remind us that we are not alone.
